Thanks!
I actually had someone with the last name Scroggins like my Facebook page a few months ago because he thought I was a relative of his. I didn't realize it was such a common name.

Greetings all. I'm Adam, but most of you know me as David Scroggins. For those who might not know me from other places, I live in Tennessee and write Horror, Fantasy, and weird stories with a psychological twist. I'm a crazy bird person who is owned by two awesome parrots, and that's really about it. It's good to see some familiar (and not so familiar) faces. You're very welcome, Adam. It's good to have a horror writer here as we have nobody of that genre yet.

David! Er ... Adam! Sorry, it'll take me a bit to get the pen name out of my system, since I'm so used to it. VERY glad to see you show up here. How are your parrots? That's some kind of conure, isn't it? Ah, green-cheeked. (I cheated and looked it up.) I remember finding out about your birds way back when, but I've forgotten. At any rate, welcome!

I'm glad to be here. For the name, Kboards is just such a big place that I thought it was best to post under my pen name there, but I figured I should probably start using the real one elsewhere so my fellow writers would be able to get to know me without a fake name. The little guy in my avatar is Link, a green-cheeked conure. My other feathered baby is Princess Leia. She's a blue-crowned conure. Both of them are basically my children and are beyond spoiled!

My pen names have pen names! CB Edwards is a pen name (but my family calls me CB).

Well, you're doing it right, then! Having parrots is a lot like having kids, I think. They're so smart and social, they're like perpetual toddlers. I've only had budgies and cockatiels, even event little guys like them need a lot of time, play, and scritches. Hey, have you seen The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill? A blue-crowned conure features prominently. "Becca Mills" is a pen name, too. "Rebecca Mills" was the maiden name of one of my ancestors on my mother's side. I'm thinking about loosening up on keeping my identity under wraps. I started out very strict about it because I was in a tenure-track job, and I didn't particularly want my colleagues knowing I was using my time to write genre fiction instead of doing research. I don't think that would've gone over well, even though we could all see the writing on the wall about my position there (they couldn't hire my husband, so there really was no way I could stay). But now I'm just another adjunct, and I don't think it matters so long as I also do some legit professional development. In fact, in meeting one of my new officemates, I impulsively said, "I write fantasy novels for fun," and she said, "Neat! I write mystery novels for fun!"

That's great, Becca! I think it would add to your kudos if you revealed your secret.

Snobs, are they? I bet many of them have novels hidden in their bottom drawer or behind the wardrobe...

Welcome, Adam! Really glad you decided to come by and check this out. The snark factor is low, at least aimed against each other. I can't promise that for the outside world.

Snark? Snark... Hmmm, I knew there was something missing. It's not a real forum without snark. Maybe I should put in a snark section?

Maybe the snark section could be the only part of the forum available to guests. That way, when they register to join the "arguments" and make it to the other sections, it'll be like a surprise party for them.

Like a roped-off section where they can comment and snark away outside the tent , so to speak.

Hello,
My name is Brian D. Meeks. And I have a problem...I've been writing every day since Jan 2, 2010. I can't seem to stop.
For me, it started out as blogging. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but I was wrong. Blogging is a gateway "drug" if you will. Before I knew it I was guest posting, carrying around a moleskin, and getting up in the middle of the night to jot down an idea. It didn't stop there.
I started to write novels. I've written seven of them, five are published, and two probably should be if I'd get off my butt and get them done (I mean, they're both back from my editor!), but I just keep writing more.
One night, back in Jan 2011, I had the writing bug bad. I ended up going through a 21 day writing bender. It was a blur and when I came out the other end, I had given birth to my first non-fiction work. It's sort of the the love child of my collection. I just wish I could remember what happened. Such dark days indeed.
So, now I'm here...writing...about my addiction. It isn't just the writing monkey on my back, but it's close cousin, the marketing monkey. That rush of a sale or a new ranking number when running a promotion is almost too much. I don't leave the house anymore. I avoid my friends (I'm sure they can see the shame written across my forehead in bright red letters...AUTHOR)
Oh well, I guess admitting you have a problem is the first step. I'm glad to be here.
