Okay, I'll go first. I'm Becca Mills, and I'm a writer. I write a science-fantasy series called Emanations. So far, one book is out and the second is nearing completion. I only started writing creatively when indie publishing became an option. I live in California and teach academic writing at a university. I like bird-watching, which I no longer have time to do; fast cars, although I had to trade mine in for a minivan; films, of which I managed to see two last year; and too many foodstuffs to name. I have twin girls who are almost four. They're to blame for the lack of birding, films, and fast cars in my life.

Nice to meet you, Becca. I'm Daniel R. Marvello (posting as DRMarvello). I'm writing a swords & sorcery fantasy trilogy called The Vaetra Chronicles. The first two books of the trilogy are available now (see links in my signature), and I'm currently working on the third. I also run a web site for fans of magical fantasy books called the Magic Appreciation Tour (MagicAppreciationTour.com). Authors of magical fantasy are invited to list their books on the site for free. Readers are invited to browse the listings, which are optimized to make it easy to find a book that appeals. I'm a web application and database developer who loves reading and writing magical fantasy. I'm vegetarian, an amateur woodworker, an occasional homebrewer, and a I enjoy making bread (my wife enjoys that too). I'm a huge fan of the samoyed dog breed. I was a major Dungeons and Dragons player and a dungeon master back in the late 70's and early 80's. I credit Oblivion from Bethesda Softworks with inspiring me to give up gaming and create my own intricate, fictional world.

Samoyeds are beautiful. I've heard they're fastidious. True?

Samoyeds are beautiful. I've heard they're fastidious. True? It depends upon the samoyed. Our Fiona, not so much. I think the reputation comes partly from the fact that many of them have "magic fur," which sheds just about anything that gets on it. They'll get dirty or muddy, lie down somewhere, and leave a pile of dirt behind when they get up later. By the way, that's how I came up with the imprint name for my fiction work: Magic Fur Press. The logo is a samoyed face.

Introducing myself:
My name is Susanne O'Leary and I write mainly romantic fiction.
I was born in Sweden and live in Ireland (married to an Irishman). I started my writing career by writing non-fiction and wrote two books about health and fitness (I am a trained fitness teacher). While writing these books, I discovered how much I loved the actual writing process. My then editor gave me the idea to write a fun novel based on my experiences as a diplomat’s wife. This became my debut novel, ‘Diplomatic Incidents’ (the e-book version is called ‘Duty Free’), published in 2001. I wrote three further novels, ‘European Affairs’ (now as an e-book with the title ‘Villa Caramel’), ‘Fresh Powder’ (2006) and ‘Finding Margo’(2007). The latter two were published by New Island Books in Dublin.
In 2010, when the publishing industry started to decline, I broke away from both publisher and agent and e-published my back list, along with two novels that were with my agent for submission. Since then I have written and e-published six further novels and, as a result, now have twelve books out there in the e-book market worldwide. I write mainly in the women’s fiction genre, some chick-lit, some contemporary romance, with two historical novels and two detective stories thrown into the mix. I enjoyed writing those but my first love is romantic fiction with a lot of humour and heart.
My bestselling romantic comedy, Fresh Powder was translated to German last year and, with the title ‘Frischer Schnee’, is selling well on Amazon.de. I have just published Hot Property, followed by Hot Gossip, romantic fiction set in County Kerry.

We're really doing this? It's kinda like telling my sister who I am. I'm gonna have to dig out my resume. I don't remember who I am right now.

Hmm, Sister Dean sounds like a rock group, like Sister Sledge.

I'm Michelle Lynn Blackmar, aka Lynn Blackmar. I live in Atlanta, the geek convention capital of the world (we have over 50 of them!). I write young adult and YA/adult crossover action adventure and science fiction. I have two books of a crossover spy series out, and the third and final book in that trilogy is almost done. Then I'm writing superheroes.
I do my own covers and formatting. My sales are fairly slow but steady, as it's a pretty targeted genre. Superheroes may open that up a bit, we'll see. I also write inspirational comedic women's fiction on another pen name, but only have one thing on that right now. They totally don't correlate, so I keep them separate. I had already written three books for fun when I decided to self publish. I have had offers for my inspirational, but turned them down. I've been asked to submit as Lynn, but haven't so far.
I originally fell in love with science fiction at 14 when I read Douglas Adams to impress a boy. Not sure where the spy thing came from, as I dreamed the story, and hadn't really read/seen anything from that genre when I originally dreamt it. I have a green belt in Tae Kwon Do, was an archery teacher for a college job, and like swords and siege weapons.

Y'all are far more interesting and multi-faceted than I imagined.
This looks fun, so I'll play . . .
I am Michael Hearing, and I am currently a very part-time writer and a somewhat bitter full-time remodel-crew worker. I write whatever I like, usually sightly immaturely masculine like, say, Hemingway or Howard and big on word-play and often light on plot. My books and stories have some of the best beginnings you'll ever read, but that's all you'll read because I seldom finish anything. I am lazy and a world-class procrastinator.
I have been a Comp I & II and world lit teacher at a junior college, a newspaper columnist for a tiny paper, a writing tutor, freelance web-content writer, full-time/part-time drunk, day laborer, and a very inadequate rodeo rough-stock contestant. Now I dream of being a wealthy writer, but that's as far as it ever goes: it always remains a mere velleity.
I live on several acres in Oklahoma with my wife, three horses, three dogs, one cat, and my wife's four ferrets. I fish a lot and raise some vegetables. We have three children (all far more mature and successful than I was at their ages) and 6.2 grandchildren.
And I feel privileged to be a part of the Writers Pub.

I had to look up "velleity," and it is now my new favorite word. Congratulations on the .2 grandchild! (I'm assuming that means one is on the way.) Also, I adore ferrets. They are SSToJ (somewhat stinky tubes of joy).

I keep telling my daughter that I can't wait for her first to get old enough for me to teach him how to drink beer and chew tobacco. She never smiles when I say that, though. I love that word too. I think I picked it up somewhere in Thomas Merton, Seven-Storey Mountain maybe. You like ferrets, huh? You might want to check out my wife's nearly abandoned site to which I used to contribute occasionally: theferretzone.comWe also have a ferret-themed short story: www.amazon.com/Danny-Oliver-Ferret-Rescue-Karen-Hearing-ebook/dp/B0080SO8UW/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1392594385&sr=1-1&keywords=danny+and+oliver+a+ferret

Had to watch the ferrets in the dryer tubing twice. The beer and tobacco thing is funny. Er ... it's a joke, right?

The ferrets in the packing peanuts cracked me up. As for velleity, my browser's dictionary may not like it, but I do.
