Thanks, Becca, I've found it after some searching. The film was called Flashpoint with KK and Treat Williams. Guess who's feeling hung-over, this morning!

With every drink I find myself more firm in my believe that Sake is the greatest of alcohols. Perhaps it's just me... my personal drink of choice. I enjoy the flavor of even the cheapest of sakes and have never had a hangover regardless of the amount I drink. It is a kind and generous sort of drink, imparting warm fuzzy feelings of bliss without backhanding you the next day. I am tempted to move to Japan just for ease of access. Of course I'd go there for just about any reason. Spent three of my military brat years there and they were some of the best I can remember! Think I'll go write now. There is debate as to who said it but I rather like the advice - whether it's by Hemingway or someone else - "Write drunk, edit sober." TIME TO TEST IT! Sake is the nectar of the gods. There's a Japanese restaurant the wife and I love going to where they put on the whole show right in front of you. I always get a tall carafe of sake, and a second one along the way. I've been known to get a third, but not as often as I used to. Yum. There's something cool about it. It warms the tummy same as a shot of tequila because it's warmed, but you can drink more of it, and it doesn't have the bite. Yeah, good stuff.

I love frozen Vodka. Don't drink it often but I love the clean taste and the way it thickens when frozen.

I feel weird posting on this thread since we have so many new people now. My 30 days without alcohol didn't go so well, as evidenced by this post.

I've literally never been drunk. I don't like the way even slightly buzzed feels, plus alcoholism/family/etc.
I have a TON of liquor in the house because I cook with it. My DH doesn't drink anymore because he doesn't care for the taste of anything but the girliest drinks, and he never gets drunk because he goes straight to horny when tipsy and, well, he's got a wife in arm's reach....
I've been meaning to get drunk for research, though. LOL. I need to pick a weekend when I have the time.

I've literally never been drunk. I don't like the way even slightly buzzed feels, plus alcoholism/family/etc. I've never been drunk either, not a day in my life. Alcoholism is strong on one side of my family and I feel a need to be very careful when I drink because of that. I never let myself have more than one drink in a single night, and generally make sure it's at least a week or two between. The highest number of drinks I've ever had in one night is two, and that's been twice. I'm missing my margaritas though. I've been out of tequila for about 3 months now and I keep forgetting to buy more because I don't drink that often! I doubt I'll ever try to get drunk, even for research. I don't like headaches enough to put myself through that. Plus, I already know I'll spend the time giggling because I do that after one drink.

I am reviving this thread.
Because I miss it.
And because I am, indeed, drunk tonight.
Hubby agreed to get up when the baby cries, so I actually get to sleep after I hit the hay.
I haven't been around much lately because I haven't been writing. My baby (NOT a baby... 15 months old) is up 3-4 times every night. And I am the one who gets up with him. I am getting NO sleep. So I spend my days on the sofa, praying for a 10 minute nap.
And yeah. I'm still homeschooling my kids, feeding them (Kids eat ALL the time), changing diapers and wiping butts, yada yada.
I edited 2 graphs the other day and felt like a champ. haha
Miss you guys, though. And miss writing. Maybe soon I'll be back in the game...

Jeez, RL ... 3-4 times/night for 15 months? You seem to be getting on remarkably well, considering. I would've had a psychotic break and stuffed one of the babies in the vegetable crisper.

That's terrible, RL. No sleep and all that going on during the day... But it might cheer you up to hear that they do grow up. Even if, at this stage, it seems like it's taking forever. (I think I'd be more like Becca, too )

Just realized that I haven't been drunk once since this thread started. This must change. You'd think that the mother-in-law living with us would have upped my tequila intake considerably, but it's the antacid bill that's soaring.
For all the good the antacids are doing, I might as well batter-fry them...
Still, it beats what removinglimbs is going through. One of the writers for my troll anthology is a single mother of 4 who's about to publish a novel, so eventually, it can be done! (The writing stuff, not the stuffing of kids into places that are considered illegal for kid-stuffing. But let's not quibble about the proper meanings of the words "can" and "may". Of course you "can" stuff the kids.) Also, of course, she must be some sort of super woman, so don't let her make you feel bad...
I wasted my coulda-been-childbearing years watching TV instead of writing or rearing. I used to have dreams all the time that I was taking care of babies -- mine or others'. I was always misplacing them and finding them in unusual spots. I figured that's why babies are loud and stinky, so you can find them. Best I didn't breed, after all. Now I edit, write, format and illustrate in my dreams AND real life.

These days large quantities of alcohol will send me to sleep before I get drunk. Last night, for example, I had: 1 large vodka and lemonade 1/2 bottle + 1 glass of Merlot 1 shot of Tia Maria Admittedly they came before, with, and after a meal - and they're hardly prodigious quantities, but it was our 32nd wedding anniversary. I still fell asleep!

(I think I'd be more like Becca, too ) Yeah, I really couldn't do it. I remember (dimly) that first month, when one of our twins was sleeping during the day and the other was sleeping at night. I really did come close to losing my mind. I remember looking forward to taking a shower every day because I could just stand there and cry for ten minutes without freaking everyone out. Severe sleep deprivation and I do not mix well. Lindymoone, I like the idea that stink and squalling are infant homing devices.

I didn't have twins but I had two boys less than two years apart. NOBODY SLEPT. When the baby was asleep, the two- year-old got up and wanted to be in our bed. Then he went to sleep and the baby woke up. I was 23 and looked 85. For months. Then I had friends with no kids who complained about not being able to sleep for some reason. I used to stare at them and say, "but you're allowed to sleep, so why don't you?" I would have given my diamond engagement ring for just one night's sleep. I'm glad I still have it, though...

Sounds about right, Suzy. That's what it's often like with fraternal twins, at first -- their sleep patterns are totally different, so the whole "you sleep when they sleep" advice doesn't work at all. You can go 48 -- even 72 -- hours with no sleep at all. I couldn't stand it. We sleep-trained aggressively at four months. Our girls have been excellent sleepers for four years, now. It was hard to do at the time, but I think it saved my sanity.
