I don't care as long as I can sleep and get up without limping.

Awesome. I gotta say, when I had a horrible sciatica attack a year or so ago, prednisone (and another steroid) was the only thing that helped. Narcotics did jack shit. Maybe nerve pain is particularly intractable. Are steroids anti-inflammatory? If so, that might explain it. Narcotics are good for taking your mind off the pain, but if the pain is the grating, persistently-sharp kind, they aren't very effective. When I had gout attacks, NOTHING helped except being unconscious, but I could never sleep for long.

Yeah, I think steroids like those are very powerfully anti-inflammatory, so they actually treat the cause of the pain.

Gout is awful! My husband gets attacks but he finds anti-inflammatories a big help. But not completely. It can take a day or two for it to clear. He's very grumpy with it but that's understandable. Better today after a long sleep. I think the pills help you relax too. I do exercises for my back every day. I think I did some damage when I was doing ballet years ago.

This thread had sunk to about page 4! Is nobody drinking anymore?
Easter Sunday evening here. Just enjoying the post dinner-chocolate-wine glow. We had a fun day with lots of friends, family, kids and dogs. Egg hunt in the garden and fun around the table. Lots of wine, so not responsible for my actions or anything else.
Lovely day though. Hope you're having fun too.
Cheers!

Human backs seem to be vulnerable things. Yeah... Dealing with that right now. Remind me to use the dolly when I need to haul a lot of stuff around! LOL Easing the pain with idle experiments. Candy bar vodka, cinnamon/sugar vodka, cream soda, and ginger ale. I will be determining the best combination of these! FOR SCIENCE!

It certainly does taste better! (some of it, anyway....) So far the favorite is candy bar vodka with cream soda. I'll pass on another round of the cinna-sugar and ginger ale, though. Ugh... not unbearable but not worth attempting to savor again.

Now my problem is.... which story to work on, whether to start a new one, or whether to try again to seek the impossible. ~sigh~ I have yet to find a story scary enough to actually inspire nightmares. I have people complain that my current desktop scares the crap out of them and I just find it to be pleasant to look at. Don't suppose any of the horror authors here cater to the uncommon sorts who don't scare easily? (Hell, I only kinda liked Doctor Who until I had a dream where I woke up with a Weeping Angel standing over me... then I woke up to a pitch black room. That earned that show a permanent place in my heart.) I need anti-help! I'm addicted to nightmares and haven't had once since!! It's been mooooooonths! I don't get restful sleep unless someone is trying to kill me in my dreams! I have no idea why but it's a pretty distinct pattern. If anyone knows a good author to help with this problem - let me know! Until then... more vodka....

With every drink I find myself more firm in my believe that Sake is the greatest of alcohols.
Perhaps it's just me... my personal drink of choice. I enjoy the flavor of even the cheapest of sakes and have never had a hangover regardless of the amount I drink.
It is a kind and generous sort of drink, imparting warm fuzzy feelings of bliss without backhanding you the next day. I am tempted to move to Japan just for ease of access. Of course I'd go there for just about any reason. Spent three of my military brat years there and they were some of the best I can remember!
Think I'll go write now. There is debate as to who said it but I rather like the advice - whether it's by Hemingway or someone else - "Write drunk, edit sober." TIME TO TEST IT!

Oh, lordy. If I kept sake in the house, I'd become a lush. It's so good.

I'm out of tequila, so no margarita for me tonight. That makes me sad.

Enjoying a delicious Diet Coke. Extra-delicious because it's fountain, not can.

So, close neighbour, best friend, and biggest fan has just come across clutching a bottle of plot lubrication. As it happens, I'd already solved the plot problem, so we drank the bottle anyway and got to talking about films. Now I need a title for a film about a couple of guys out in the desert (could be Tommy Lee Jones and Kris Kristofferson, not sure) who uncover a box with a lot of money and a rifle inside. Turns out the rifle was used to shoot JFK. What is the film, please?
