I wonder how the hell that next round works. Full manuscript reviews for 500 books have got to take a long time. Definitely not all done by the same person, even for each category. So, You figure they break it up into five groups of 25. A reader reads the 25, narrows it down to maybe his 5 faves, they swap the 25 that are left...no, that would take too long. Maybe they just pick one and each of the five readers gets to nominate only one, and that's how they come up with the five in each genre category? That would seem the only plausible way to do it.

I think it's 5x groups of 100. Probably they're told to read as much as they can before being forced to burn it. They require the books to be graded on "character development" and "originality" and some other categories. Probably given 1-10 to mark in each, then tallied and compared. |
