I just did a big overhaul on my blog. Still working on a few little things, but it's coming along. I do posts on Fridays. This morning's very random post is a hoverboard game. There's a hoverboard in my books, and it's pretty popular. This week, Funny or Die made a fake hoverboard video and created a boatload of controversy that I found hysterical. Since we still unfortunately can't ride real hoverboards, I offer a virtual one: lynnblackmar.com/

Very nice, lynn! Kudos to you for finding content that's so in line with your books/readers. I love that you warned people not to try hoverboarding IRL. Can't be too careful.

That looks like it would be a fun game to play with Kinect.
I like the site too. Clean and simple.

I love that you warned people not to try hoverboarding IRL. Can't be too careful. Actually, subway surfing is a real thing. It's train dodging. Half the game is running and half is on a hoverboard, so I thought I'd add a warning.

Yeah, no kidding. Though that sorta gives me an idea for a blog post about investing in imaginary danger....

Wow ... I don't have time to read up much on this theory now, but how fascinating! Love your post on it -- what an excellent thing to share. I had no idea this was out there. Maybe I'll watch the video over dinner tonight ...

Great post, Lynn. I particularly like the idea about covering up your name on your badge.

Great post, Lynn. I particularly like the idea about covering up your name on your badge. That was my best friend's idea. She turned up whiteout tape from her mysterious and unending Bag of Holding at one convention and whited out all our names. She makes artist trading cards. I guess stuff like whiteout tape is handy for that. I never would have thought of it.

Agreed. It's sick that, in this day and age, such precautions should be necessary. I wonder why this little pocket of our culture has remained so backwards?

I wonder why this little pocket of our culture has remained so backwards? My theory? Lack of accountability. People do all kinds of disgusting things if they think they can get away with it.

Ah, the humanity-as-weasels explanation. I like it. Not ALL of humanity, but the weasels do give the rest of us a bad name. What bothers me most about the problem is not just that we have true weasels responsible for the harassment (a small % of conference goers), but that we have pseudo weasels who defend or even encourage the true weasels (a disappointingly large % of conference goers). THAT is what gives the true weasels the freedom and confidence to continue their harassment.
