Like a little dictator, I have decided to stay put for the time being. I simply don't have the time to fiddle around with a new forum right now. We started this pub nearly a year ago and built it up and we will do it again. So please create some threads in the writing section, posts your blogs in the blog section and anything else in the sections in which they belong. We'll sort it out. I am going to see if there is a backup feature. I might have missed that when they changed the design. Have a happy Sunday!

This is what I found in the FAQ:
At this time we are not offering content restores. All of your forum data is being backed up on the same regular basis as it has been in the past.
However, we are performing an update to how our content restores are done. We hope that this update will allow us to both make our jobs easier (to restore your content) and your life easier by making restores faster and easier than they were before.
Again, your data is still being backed up in the same manner that we always have.
Thank you for your patience and understanding on this matter.

So, 1) a bunch of bullshit on the backing-up part, and 2) a suggestion that they have to do "restores" quite a bit. Why else would users even think of fast and easy restores as a plus? Humph. On rebuilding, Wayback Machine hit the site in May, so we do have that record of the various boards: web.archive.org/web/20130523181334/http://thewriterspub.proboards.comVery dated, unfortunately.

But then we can restore the structure perhaps?

I had another reply that said they have no restore feature due to the recent upgrade. So that means the old board had it but not the new one.

I'm going to recreate the structure of the old forum so we get the same look. Then we just continue as we were, except with new, fresh posts and ideas.

It's just as well. We may have lost some good content for the search engine spiders, but for those of us who hang around here the most, it's all about the current conversation and new posts anyway.

I have taken a screenshot of the old forum that was on that recovery website. And tomorrow morning, when you're all asleep, I'll organise it exactly as it was before with one big board and sections for each category so everything is clearly visible. This is the way it was:

Absolutely! Besides, it's your board. I'm just happy to be able to come visit.

You're welcome! Your support and understanding has cheered me up enormously and made me realise what good friends you all are. And how important it is to keep the pub going. Thank you!

I PMed Suzy about this, but I'll mention it here in case anyone else cares to weigh in: I actually would prefer having everything in one place with no sectioning so that I don't have to click into so many areas to search for threads I haven't read. I do occasionally miss threads for a few days because I forget to check someplace for new ones. My ideal would be a public section/board and a member's only section/board, and that's it.
That said, as Daniel said, I'm delighted to use the Pub in any form.
