I think that's a great idea, Becca. I will try to make it as clear as I can. Depends on the software available here. There might be one board marked The Pub and then another click to get into it. But then everything will be there.

I PMed Suzy about this, but I'll mention it here in case anyone else cares to weigh in: I actually would prefer having everything in one place with no sectioning so that I don't have to click into so many areas to search for threads I haven't read. I do occasionally miss threads for a few days because I forget to check someplace for new ones. My ideal would be a public section/board and a member's only section/board, and that's it. That said, as Daniel said, I'm delighted to use the Pub in any form. My experience at the pub improved a lot when I started using two tools: The "Most recent threads" link and the "Participated" link. In fact, I never even look at the main navigation of the pub unless I'm going to create a new thread and need to figure out the best place to put it. You can view the Participated threads by clicking the button by that name in the upper right corner of the page, just below your login name. That link displays all the threads you have participated in and puts a "NEW" button next to the threads that have new content since you last looked at them. You can view the Most Recent Threads link by navigating here (then bookmark it): thewriterspub.proboards.com/threads/recentThat link works a lot like Participated, except it shows the most recent threads on the board (wherever they were created). It also shows a NEW button next to the threads that you have content you haven't seen yet. The coolest thing of all is that the NEW button takes you right to the first post you haven't seen yet. I wish other forums had this feature. It would save me from wading through threads trying to figure out what posts arrived since last I looked.

I don't think I've noticed the "most recent threads" link. Thank you! That would've solved the problem I was having, which was that I would go into the "participated" list and choose a thread, and then that section of the forum would lose its "new" tag because I'd already been in it. But there might be new threads in there, ones I'd never participated in, so they didn't show up under "participated." I'd have to click thru all the sections be find new things. Have you guys noticed that the "new" tag doesn't work on stickied threads? It just takes you to the beginning of the thread. Weird glitch.

"Recent threads" produces just the view of the forum I wanted. Go figure it was there all along. Sheesh.
