Figures. Russians ruin everything. Signed, a Czech. I know. I grew up with that. Finland: my mother is Finnish. She was a nurse at the front during THE war.

Last day here. First day of rain all week. We're flying back home tonight and had been planning a day in the sun. But there have been horrendous thunderstorms all day so we ended having lunch in the restaurant around the corner and now we're waiting for the rain to stop so we can head off to the airport in Nice. We had a wonderful week, though. Now back to Ireland and more rain, I'm sure.

I'm heading for the Bahamas with my tribe for a week. I'd prefer the south of France, though. On the upside, I get to visit the Smithsonian and Charleston, SC, on the way.
See everyone is a couple of weeks.

See everyone is a couple of weeks. Have fun! I'll be reading a lot, I hope. I have no interest in cruises because I'm not much for sitting around in the sun or gambling. My wife sold me on the kids' activities. Apparently, they'll entertain your kids all day while you read books, drink, and pick your nose. All the same, there isn't much to see in the Bahamas. I've only got Washington and Charleston to keep me going on that front. Maybe I should put a smiley in here. It might sounds like I think I'm hard done by. Oh, never mind. Just add it to the list of my character defects.

All the same, the area I come from on the east coast of Canada has some great osprey-watching. I can watch a nest (there every year) from my parents' deck. It's no more than two hundred feet away. My favorite sighting was watching an eagle snatch a giant trout from an osprey's talons. I didn't know eagles would do that, but I saw it with my own eyes.

I heard they were replacing that massive African elephant in the natural history museum lobby with a t-rex. Kewl.

You misspelled both "heresy" and "hearsay." Clever! ETA: I bet he'd run circles around WH's kids.
