I heard one of my dogs steady growl, so I went to go check, and she was eyeballing the UPS delivery man. It looks like she was plotting an ambush before he rang the doorbell.

Is she licensed? Cuz maybe she thinks UPS stands for Undocumented Puppy Service.

My dog recognizes the engine sounds of both the UPS and Fedex trucks when they enter our street and is already at the window growling before there's even anything to eyeball. Because those trucks are a huge threat to our household, man! Anything could happen when they're around!

The problem, as I see it (and I'm no dog whispererererer), is that whatever the dogs are doing, they think it's working. This nasty creature (UPS truck) comes into their territory. They growl. It's not enough, because the truck disgorges a creature which approaches the door and dares to ring the bell. It seems the creature didn't understand the warning, so BARK!
BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK!
Ahhh! That did it! He went away. House and human pets successfully protected!
Until next time...

Yep, this is exactly how they see it. It's why they do this every day to the mail carrier, as well. Although nothing seems to prevent those foul creatures from depositing their leavings through the slot.

My late (sniff ) dog used to demolish the mail when it was dropped through the letter box, if I didn't get there first. She tore up letters, invitations and one royalty check, before we put a letter box on the gate so we could get to our mail before she did. She thought she should protect us from these dangerous things that came through the door.

You know what dogs are saying, right?

How disappointing. I thought they were saying much deeper things.

I'll interpret cats for you:
"Meow" means "Now!"
(Wow; I got so excited that when I went to edit this, I hit "like" instead of "edit"! Thank goodness it let me unlike myself. That could have been so embarrassing. Possibly not as embarrassing as forgetting why I was going to edit it in the first place, though.)
Oh! Oh! I remembered! I was gonna say that cats are more existential than dogs. But fuck it. Don't even want to say it, now...

How come The Far Side was so brilliant. Wasn't it just weirdly brilliant?

Gary Larson's The Far Side WAS brilliant, as was everything from B. Kliban before it! It was the quirky mix of off-beat, off-your-meds humor and social satire that did it for me every time.

I miss the Far Side. When Gary Larson said he was retiring, he meant it. I don't believe he's done much in 20 years. I use to have his desk calendar in my work cube.

My buddy and I dropped acid once in the early 80's and made the mistake of going to the mall. One of the first things we saw was a big poster of Larson's "Boneless chicken ranch" cartoon. Laughed so hard we had to leave the mall. Absolutely uncontrollable. Thankfully there were no cops around.

Don't know if we have any Supernatural fans here, but this is what I thought of immediately when this topic was first posted.

Well, we won't have to worry about TWO trucks much longer...I heard Fed Ex and UPS are merging. Their new name: Fed Up
