I've been posting to my blog Falls Into Writing for almost 2 years. I've focused mainly on writing, and try to keep up with publishing and writing news as well as offer editorial commenting. I also cover sci-fi & fantasy media such as television and movies including reviews, but I usually refocus on storytelling elements. On a personal note, I just found out yesterday that I passed 1,000 followers! I hope this makes it helpful as I'm gearing up to publish next month!

Wow. 1000 followers is awesome. I think I have 3 or 4.

Thanks vrabinec! That comes from two years of posting. I've been advised to go ahead and set up Mailchimp today to start gathering a mailing list. Am working on it!

Wow, Jenn. A thousand followers is amazing. I'm not sure how many I have, but I think vrab may be half of them. Wait a minute, here! You're being too modest! I went to check out your blog, *immediately* realized I needed to follow because -- hello! -- packed with great information, and I was like follower 1466, or something. I'd say that's just a little beyond "passing 1,000"!

I feel like that's a little cheating as it's adding in my Facebook friends (really my personal FB friends instead of my author FB numbers, which surprisingly has 65 followers where only 40 of them are my friends). The Follows that just surpassed 1K are for email sign ups for blog updates. If ONLY those were my own mailing list subscribers! Curses! (am rectifying that with releasing a link to sign up through Mailchimp today). I hope this really helps when I drop Episode One and Two of my upcoming urban fantasy serial in May! I just looked at your blog and realized I've been following yours for a long time as a fellow spec fic writer! So funny!!!

Yeah, having a mailing list seems really important to me. I'm actually fairly hapless as an indie publisher, but I luckily did start a list early (thanks to advice on KB). With a serial, I'm sure yours will grow quickly! FWIW, my sign-up invitation is slightly funny and assures people they won't be spammed. Those things might help. My mailing list seems to run at about 1% of downloads.
