The Lockington Legacy is a very valuable diamond necklace which is stolen during a private house party attended by a wonderful selection of self-obsessed characters. The newly formed Gemini Detective Agency investigates. The idea of twin girl investigators is an inspired one. One twin is logical and analytical and the other intuitive. What a team! The case becomes more involved and soon the girls are investigating a murder.

Lynda Wilcox has a warm and comfortable story-telling voice which is always easy reading but full of humour. I very much enjoy her style of mystery stories which are so far removed from the gritty crime and police drama category. There is most definitely room for both. This is a very enjoyable read and I hope to see more of the Geminis before too long.

I got mine! I actually like cozy mysteries. It's been a long while, but I used to read authors like Diane Mott Davidson, who I think is in your genre. Her main character was infuriating at times (read: an idiot), but the stories were fun and I liked that they were set in a small Colorado town.

I have a heroine like the one you mention in my first series. She's always rushing into trouble and poking her nose where it isn't wanted, asking questions to satisfy her curiosity - and solve the case, of course! Personally I love Verity, but she's not everybody's cup of tea.

I wish you luck with this. Every time I hear the term "cozy mystery" I picture Miss Marple. Loved those shows but somehow I can't read cozies. I think it's because I see them as 180 degrees from hardboiled mysteries, that I write.

I like to think I'm writing Miss Marple for the 21st century - though I can only aspire to write with the brevity and wit of Agatha Christie.

I'd agree they are very different from the original hardboiled detective stories of Hammett and Chandler - and yet, there are a lot of similarities. A cozy should, by definition, contain no foul language, no gore, and no (overt) sex. Which pretty much describes The Thin Man or The Maltese Falcon. Their authors couldn't write about sex or use f-words - by the mores of the time they'd never have been published if they did.
