We're having a mini-hurricane here at the moment. Two of our big trees are down and another one is leaning dangerously close to the power lines. We have moved our cars out of the way but we can't move the house. It's a miracle we still have power. If that goes, we'll be in the dark for a long time as many areas have been cut out and the repair teams are working flat out. Fingers crossed... ETA: latest weather report for our area (we're in the red, most severe part): Continuing very stormy with violent winds through the rest of this afternoon and early evening, as winds veer westerly, mean speeds of 80 to 90km/hr and very severe gusts of 130 to 170km/hr (that's around 105 miles per hour).

Doing my best! I'm not going out, anyway. Things are flying around. I'll expect to see low flying sheep soon...

Everybody head for the basement and hide under the sturdiest workbench. Don't take chances if trees are getting uprooted.

Wind dropped. Trees down but no power cut. One tree leaning over and I think it's about to go. But not going to cause too much damage.

Very scary! But so far we're all right.
Until the next storm. It has been a very rough winter in Ireland.

Glad to know you're all right, Suzy. High winds and driving rain here in the UK, too. Glad I don't live on the coast.

We're having an ice and snowpocalypse. Again. OMG! In Atlanta? Yep. There's a lull right now, but the weather people keep using the word "catastrophic" which isn't really making me feel all warm and fuzzy.

We've been on 'red alert' all day and they have declared it an 'emergency'. My friend down the road is cut off. No electricity and a tree is blocking their lane.
I feel very lucky.

Wow, Suzy. I'm sorry about the loss of your big trees, but glad you're safe and the house wasn't damaged.

We're supposed to get snowed in overnight. Can't wait. Should be a good day of writing tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Coastal village 200 km north west from us a few weeks ago: It looks like a model town built for a movie, or something. Wow. <stuffing sock in my climate-change doomspeak right about now ...>
