Sorry about all of this, gang, but please don't desert the pub.
We'll get it back and maybe the new version will be even better.
Give me a couple of hours and I'll put in new sections.
Use what's there in the meantime...

If you have any suggestions about new sections or which ones of the old ones you want me to re create, let me know.

ProBoards can't restore what we had?

No. They said it was my fault and it's not their policy to restore earlier versions. I din't do anything. It just went.

I can't believe they have a button that self-destructs without throwing a few "are you sure" warnings. And why not restore if it was a mistake? I think they broke it and don't want to fess up to it. Easier to say user error. Since you have to start over you should consider self hosting the forum on your account. If you use a web host they have a ton of forums you can install with a few clicks for free. Check it out: \

Thanks, Alan. I'll have a look tomorrow.
It's the evening here and all this has made me feel very tired...

If you need any help with self hosting, I used to design forums. iPage is pretty cheap and runs forums well. It sucks for Wordpress, though. I recommend SMF or MyBB. BlueHost is excellent, but more pricey. If you want to switch hosts, JCink is by far the best. He also backs things up(!). It stinks that Proboards didn't help any. I'm almost positive it had something to do with their server outage last night.

I'm sure it was. I didn't do anything, and- poof,It all went.
I don't want to move the pub so I'll try to build it up again. Feel free to add threads and discussions.

I might switch hosts but I'll let everyone know if I do.

It's totally their fault. Why else would all our PMs still be here, but all the other structure gone? The PMing function is within the forum, so far as I can see, so if Suzy had accidentally chosen to delete everything (not likely!!!), I bet the PMs would've disappeared, too. Grrrr ...
Sounds like switching to a different host is the way to go.

Can I request some private writer discussion sections in the new forum? This thread on KB kinda freaked me.... (I started from where it really became clear)

Good idea, Lynn. I did have a members only section on the old board.

Terrible stuff in that post. I think it's true too. Lurkers watching you and then if they don't like what you say, they punish you. Scary stuff.

It's much easier to see a mass join on a small forum than something like KB, though it is still possible, unfortunately. It is easier when something is hidden and people can't just go look at it at a reference.
