You can read the story here.  What an awesome thing for the author to do and what an amazing thank you from the fan. I know I went ahead and bought the first book, because I love the idea of a good, genuine author finding even more success.

It really shows how you should never underestimate the affect your books can have on other people. Doing something nice like sending copies of your book to someone costs you as an author very little, but can make someone SO happy. Because books are special
