Ha ha--I see why you say "Don't judge a book by its cover." The sultry young lady on your cover does not at all remind me of my grandmother who graduated from Pratt Institute's library school in 1899, where she learned the mysteries of the Dewey Decimal System, and how to tell patrons to 'shhhhh...'
I do not believe she was ever taught anything about grabbing juicy carrots. She didn't marry until she was 31. She once told me that she "...never expected to marry, and didn't much care--but it seemed like the usual thing..." It has always troubled me that I came that close to 'non-being' (or being somebody else.)
Anyway, she was a literate woman, with firmly suffragist opinions on a variety of subjects--more my notion of a 'bluestocking.'

Hey, you can be a bluestocking in a black sexy dress, you know! She has a phd in English literature and can hold her own in any literary discussion. A beautiful woman can often hide a sharp brain and scare men who only look at the outside. This is the main theme of the book.
Formula-thinking stops you discovering what lies beneath...

Yes, you can, of course, but my limited experience of English Lit PhD's does not encourage me. I am trying to post a picture of a standard version 'bluestocking' suitable for use on the 1899 edition of your story. [#2%& grrrgh ... O.K. I give up.]

O.K. Got my copy--who cares if I blew my grand-daughter's inheritance? [She already has more sense than to rely on me.] Expect a devastating review.

She was very pretty. Proves my point, doesn't it?

carlos, many thanks for the nice review. Much appreciated, even though it was a tad revealing... I know I shouldn't complain when you've been so kind, but I wonder if you might take the trouble to rejig the second paragraph, so that the plot isn't explained quite so clearly... I was trying to mislead the readers a little bit so they wouldn't guess what happens in the end, romantically speaking.

Rejigged--although I don't know if Amazon has yet re-posted. I thought it was the law in Tipperary, that the fittest, richest, more dynamic of two eligible bachelors must inevitably have feet of clay, while the quiet, retiring, salt of the earth boyo must always win the prize (sort of reverse Darwinism.) I didn't mean to give away anything unexpected. Sorry.

P.S There are no laws in Tipperary. No one has ever heard of Darwin either... Maybe you should come here and edumacate them? Best done over a pint of the black stuff.
