I got an email about this in my inbox this morning and almost deleted it. www.amazon.co.uk/b?ie=UTF8&node=12061299031&ref_=pe_390220_233700670I thought, "I have nothing that's going to be anywhere near ready to go by May 19th," but then I saw that the length minimum is only 5k words... so I might yet give it a shot. Just sharing in case anyone else here might be interested in it. I'm sure some of you have publications coming up soon (and probably all also got the email). |

Thanks for this! My book (The Rose and the Mask, the one my launch thread from last month was about) is actually entered in this, but I didn't know there was a way to view all the entries. Are there seriously only 95??

The link looks interesting. I would guess, like me, most authors will not enter the comp because of restriction of KDP Select only publishing. So, good luck to both of you. I hope you win. :-)

But Victoria, ( Victoria) as I understand from the conditions of entry, the book shouldn't have been published anywhere, not even KDP. So if your new book was published how can you enter it? Or did I miss something? I wouldn't enter, even though my new book will be ready for publication before the final date. It could mean this book would be held up until July when they decide on the winner. |

Suzy, I'm pretty sure that means it can't have been published before you put it on KDP. You HAVE to publish it on KDP to enter.

I saw that. But then in the terms and conditions it says: • The Book must not currently or previously have been the subject of a publishing agreement or option with any publisher or have been previously published in any format (including KDP) or in any other language.

I think that must mean that it can't have been published through KDP before the time you publish it and enter the competition. I.e. you can't unpublish an older book, then republish it to enter the competition. You literally can't enter without publishing through KDP so it can't mean that!

I think that must be the case. But it's a bit confusing. Does this mean that the book you enter has to be published the day of you entering the competition?

You enter the competition by adding the tag it specifies during the publishing process, so it happens at the same time as publishing it.

327 entries now. Might enter Elusive Heir, I'll hopefully be uploading it later tonight, and there doesn't seem to be any reason not to?
Edited to add: actually, probably not. Winner agrees to a publishing contract with Amazon. Not sure I'm really for that!
