Hello all
Just a quick note to offer my apologies for vanishing from view so shortly after you very kindly welcomed me here.
I'm afraid I've been diagnosed with cancer. According to the doctors, it started at the base of my tongue and has now spread to my throat. Sadly, it's inoperable (without removing my entire tongue), and so I'm about to undergo six weeks of intense radiotherapy and chemotherapy. It won't be long before I can't speak or eat, and so I've had a stomach tube fitted to help me with the latter. As for the former - I'll be arming myself with a dry erase board and pens!
In order to understand more about my illness, and to possibly help others who may find themselves in a similar situation, I've started a blog in which to chart my battle against the Big C. It's at www.tommyVcancer.com if you would like to take a peek. Some of it isn't easy reading, but it's 100% honest.
I hope to retain the strength to write for as long as possible into my treatment. If I do, please know that I'll be here lurking, if not posting.
