I'm clearly interested in books. I buy them from Amazon. But I never get any ads. Is it because I don't post stuff on my page having to do with books?

I think that's it.Try posting stuff about your preferred genre and reading habits (if you want to reveal them)

if you "like" authors &/or books, add books to your profile &/or join some readers groups your fb ads will be populated with book links

Facebook targeting is very (creepily, some might say...) specific, but Facebook only knows what you tell it (and, you know, what it learns from sitting in a parked car across the street from your house). Posting an ad on Facebook that targets everyone is probably too expensive and scattergun for most writers/publishers so they're probably targeting "[people in my target demographic] who like [book that is similar to mine]" and that's not picking you up.
Facebook certainly CAN follow you to other sites to see what you're up to in order to creepily try to sell you shit later, but I don't *think* Amazon is one of those sites. Or possibly it is but you've turned off the privacy option that lets it follow you there.

Hmm, I actually keep a close eye on my privacy settings on FB. Just updated them yesterday or the day before. Took someone off there I didn't trust. Some game company I think. I don't why the hell they'd be monitoring my stuff anyway. I never play games online.

Okay, yeah, so even if Facebook does watch what people do on Amazon (I'm not sure), you've told it not to watch you. So it won't know that you're interested in books.

I let certain entities track me. I let Bing, Fiction Press, Goodreads, Trip Advisor, Disqus, and a couple others (This is from the apps page). On the sidebar, I've got an ad for Amazon Echo, but I never see ads for books over there. Though, it's possible that there are books being advertised in my main feed. I mean, I get ads from friends like Jen Wells, Elle, and Susan Kaye Quinn, but I kinda thought those were just posts they were putting up in my feed. I don't think I'm getting books advertised by anyone I don't know...I don't THINK. I dunno.
