Anyway, I'd love to know what you think! I think the same. I just spent a horrible half hour reading blog entries by Dean Wesley Smith wherein he brags about his daily word count, as if he was working under the Five Year Plan and Stalin was looking over his shoulder. No, no--there are actually enough words, and enough books, already. Of course we can always use better words and better books, but they are hard to come by. I secretly believe there is no shame in letting a morning pass without a worthwhile idea, or allowing an unsuccessful story line to disappear in the foggy bourne of apathy. It's O.K., let them go. [But of course, I WOULD say that.]

I deleted my old blog and started a new one with more general content. It's not strictly an author blog, partly because I feel weird about self-promotion (not that there's anything wrong with it, I just suck at it!) and partly because my productivity is so unreliable that I quite often have no writing to talk about! Anyway, I'd love to know what you think! www.oppositeofpopular.comI love it. I'd have SO many more blog posts if I'd journaled when I was 10. That's totally brilliant And I would like to do this too: "Fictional Experiences With Which I Would Like To Replace Actual Experiences From My Relatively Uninteresting Life" Hee hee.

carlos Other people's word counts are among my least favourite things. I always feel good about how much I've written until I read about someone who writes in 30 seconds what takes me a whole day. scdaffron Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it. And please feel free to use the Fictional Experiences idea for your own blog! I'd love to see what you come up with.

Yes, if you'd like to ruin your day, read DWS. He's a downer. The WORLD WILL END if you don't write 10,000 words today. No, wait, you SHOULD BE WRITING MORE! Everybody should be writing MORE! And then even more than that. MORE, I SAY! Ugh. I need to think more about Fictional Experiences. That's just great. I so would have liked a cool tiger best friend too

Fictional experiences are of the essence in my Fauxtobiography, three postings on my blog thread (which see on this site.) However I prefer to think of them as the experiences of my older brother, who would have been me if my mother had not miscarried in 1935. I was his entirely insufficient replacement. It has been difficult living up to his heroic life in another dimension.

I was having such a good time reading that I went through several more posts. You have a rare comedic talent, and I wouldn't be surprised to see your blog take off. Your sense of humor is different from The Bloggess, but every bit as crazy and laugh-out-loud funny. Thank you for sharing it.

Oh my goodness! Finally something to do with that crate of childhood and adolescent diaries -- but mine are from the late 70s and 80s, not 2000! To think that there are grownups now who were children in the year 2000!
Anyway, I'm going to join my voice to the chorus of people who dislike wordcount posts. I had a FB friend who was doing that for a while, and either he's stopped now or FB has seen fit to hide those posts from me. I don't mind progress tracking bars on the sidebar or footer of blogs, but please, not on Twitter or FB!

Daniel, thank you so much, that's so kind of you! You made my day Amelia, you should definitely blog your old journals! I'd love to see them!
