I'm thinking about taking the plunge. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

I used the free month to get one (in the UK). But haven't read it yet. Don't know if I'll get the subscription when the month is up.

I haven't signed up because it costs more than I typically spend on books in a month. I read nightly before bed, but I'm not a "voracious" reader, and I don't generally spend more than $3 on a fiction book.

I've got my eye on several books that could make me come out ahead. It may take away a couple of series that I'm reading now that aren't in the program. I'll probably just do it.

I've been noticing a lot of indie books I want are in it so I'll probably sign up over Christmas.

I'm in it. And even being in it, I still spent $29. On kindle books last month

Not available in Australia. (Not that I read enough to use it at the moment.)

I signed up for the free month when it first came out and read the first eight books in Bella Andre's Sullivan's series. I don't have a sub now but if I accumulate a lot of books at $.99 I want to read I would sign up. Since I know what the royalty rates are I don't want to take money from smaller authors that would earn more if I bought the book out right.

I've been meaning to sign up for the free month, but haven't yet. My TBR pile is already big, but might might as well check out how it works. I doubt I stay beyond the free trial. I probably spend more than $10/month on ebooks, but not all are in KU. I wouldn't want to handcuff myself (as a reader) to KU only books because I'm paying the monthly fee.

I'm in it and love it! Harry Potter is the only trade book I've borrowed, the rest are all indies. I'm having a blast!

I don't even have time to read road signs, but I'm not averse to giving it a whirl. How does it fare on nonfiction?

I haven't checked out all of the non-fic yet, but I borrowed some good writing books, and I noticed they have a few biographies I'd like to check out.
I'm not convinced the program will make it though, as so many indies have said they are pulling their books out. I'm actually going to be pulling mine out too. Only one sale of a short story so far this month. If I can't get more exposure, what is the point of being exclusive.
But as a reader, it is a good value as I never would have been able to afford the books I've borrowed.

So, I've been a subscriber for a year. I read 29 books through the program and I'm in the black about $85. I discovered some authors and read some others that I may have had they not been enrolled. FWIW.

I've been a subscriber from the start. I love the program. I use it as an extended sample--if I like the first few chapters, I read on. If not, I return it and know that the author got a little bit of scratch for my time. I've probably borrowed 200+ books, read less than half of them to completion, and went on to purchase 20-30 of them after borrowing because they were that good. I've found a lot of fun reads through the program that I wouldn't have seen if they hadn't been in KU.
