ETA by Suzy:
Just to explain that the committee have discussed how we can maintain the friendly atmosphere in our pub and introduce an element of control and vigilance when it comes to disagreements that can derail into something unpleasant. It's about being considerate and polite and also encourage members to be careful about the tone and 'voice' in their comments when arguments get a little heated. This is what we have come up with:
In a nutshell:
The Pub is like a big author party. We're here to share stories and experiences. We're here to learn and to educate. We encourage an atmosphere where members look forward to their next visit. Disagreements are inevitable, but that should not cause a problem as long as we treat each other with respect and kindness.
Unfortunately, posting comments on the Internet is not like speaking with others face-to-face. You can't see when they are joking with you or when they have been hurt by something you said. Emotional distance and the option for anonymity cause some people to behave in ways that they never would in person. As moderators, our goal is to preserve the atmosphere. Members who ruin that atmosphere for others will be invited to leave.
Moderators can't always tell when someone is being a party pooper. Every group has its own dynamics based on the people involved. What infuriates one person may be seen in a completely different light by someone else. We don't want our members to feel like their only recourse is to leave when someone else treats them badly. The ability to report posts and the three strikes rule give our members a way to help shape their experience at the Pub.
How to report a post
Click the gear icon at the right side of the offending post and choose "Report Post" from the drop-down menu. Please provide an explanation of why you are reporting the post. Don't be afraid to tell the moderators exactly how you feel.

In a nutshell:
- Members have the option of reporting offensive, disruptive, or hostile posts.
- Moderators review all reports and decide if a warning is warranted.
- If a member is warned for three incidents of bad behavior, moderators will suspend or ban the offending member's account.
