I mean, it makes sense in a way. But...the man takes soooo much time in between to write his tomes. You can turn off all the auto-formatting features. I do understand writing on a machine that doesn't access the internet. But using a DOS computer??? It's funny, but man, that is scary in terms of trusting an old piece of technology. If his old DOS computer helps him from being distracted and helps him to write, then when is book 6 coming out? ?? Or when is he going to get book 7 started? The TV show is going to catch up and surpass his own story lines! I'd hate to lose that kind of control over my work! Well, he is intimately involved in writing the show, too, so he's not losing any control over the storylines. But he needs to get off his ass and put out the next damn book, for sure. The issue I see is that he knew when he started the show what the schedule would be. He understood the timing in terms of getting his books out. I guess it shows his integrity that he didn't just push out something he didn't believe in just to make money. But at the same time, if I were him, i'd want the show to be based off my books and not have to add original content. We also risk him demanding they stop after season 6 because book 7 isn't finished (this is assuming he gets book 6 published soon).

They aren't doing stuff he doesn't approve of. Some of the original content is his idea, too. I think he probably has a handle on what's happening with both the show and his books. I'm sure he's not stressing about it quite the same we as we all are!

Well, if I stress about someone else's issues, I don't focus on my own for getting my stuff finished and published, right?

I used to write in tablets (paper tablets, lol) but now I can't even write a sentence without my computer. I'm so trained to respond to the tapping of the keys I have no creativity whatsoever unless I'm sitting in front of my computer! My dad was a VERY early computer systems analyst, so we had a computer in the house by the time I was eight, maybe earlier. This is so me. With a pencil and paper, I can whip out an essay, but fiction? I freeze up. My mind goes blank.

I totally cannot write fast enough with a pen and paper to keep up with the story moving in my head. And even if I could, chances are I wouldn't be able to read it later!

I bought up a bunch of cheap tablets during the back to school sales (I probably have a hundred or more now), but all I do is scribble notes to myself. All my fiction and my fiction notes are on the computer.

I also print out stuff like a timeline (if I'm feeling lost). Instead of looking at it on the computer I like having it printed on paper so I can just pick it up and look at it.

We have scratch pads all over the house. If I get an idea, I make a quick note because otherwise my sieve of a memory will let it dribble away before I can get to my computer.
