Ok I am getting ready to go out of town for like 3-4 days this weekend and I have a full check list of everything I need to pack on the way there and back down to listing things like toothbrush and toothpaste and how many and which shoes to take.. I feel like I am going WAY OCD on this and was wondering if anyone else was the same?

I'm going to Maine to visit my folks for 10 days on Friday and I don't have a list but I used to make one like yours every time. I also used to record the mileage and how much we paid for gas and tolls and write down every single penny we spent on a trip. Yeah, I think there might have been an OCD thing going on. I also used to clean my entire house before we left. I don't do that anymore either...and now I'm beginning to think I'm just lazy. Have a fun trip!

I'm terrible the other way, I usually pack the night before. I usually overpack since I didn't plan. I figure if I forget anything I should be able to buy it wherever I'm going. I OCD my gadgets... Fully stocked Kindle - check... iPad with movies downloaded and ready to watch - check... chargers, check.

I can relate. I get onto Google Maps and use the Street View feature to see what all the turns will look like ahead of time, and I write a detailed set of driving directions for long trips. I write my mileage on my gas receipts (using the trip meter - which I reset at each fill up of course).
But I don't call it OCD. It's CDO: the same concept as OCD, but the letters are in the correct order.

But I used to travel all the time for business (for about 3 years) so I'm very used to packing, esp. if it's a solo trip. Now...traveling w/ a 11-month-old kiddo...that's something else...

Hi, Rae! I used to be the lightest, easiest packer in the world. I rolling backpack and a big purse would do the trick for however long I was going to be gone, and packing took about 15 minutes. I had it down to a science. Then I had kids and started making 200-item lists before starting to pack. And I revised the lists and saved them for next time, too. Traveling with kids just ruins you forever as a light packer.
