Okay, some of you may know this...if you do, just ignore me.
As we all know, our posts are being hidden on our pages to most of our peeps, so I've been doing a little experiment. I wait until my first book sinks almost to oblivion, 200,000-300,000ish, then I go on a page hunt. My book is about domestic abuse and survivors. It revolves around a story of three young women and their mother, and a dragonfly tattoo. The second book is about PTSD from abuse, and getting past that for a HEA. So I look for pages about abuse, PTSD, tattoos, dragonflies, etc. I "like" posts and comment (I feel legitimate in doing this because I am a survivor and I love and write about literary dragonflies). I spend about an hour and a half...sometimes two, doing this.
I've done this four times now and watched my book(s) split their rankings in half or better each time within 24 hours. I think it's normal behavior to see someone comment on your post that you are unfamiliar with (because I haven't liked their page) and click on that person (me) to see who I am. This leads them directly to my page where they see three book covers about these subjects. They're buying because I'm connecting to them where they're at...not waiting for them to come to me.
This is the only 'marketing' I've done each time the rankings have split, so it HAS to be coming from this. It's not many sales, but enough to keep bumping me up until I get book 3 done and some promo's out there. It has helped, for realsie. But it does take some time to do that searching for just the right topic/page to legitimately comment on.
Let me add with emphasis!!! If you just randomly go in and like, like, like a bunch of stuff without commenting or EVER liking any page, FaceBook will take away your 'like' abilities temporarily. It has to be a a fair mix of likes/comments, or they consider you as spamming. I know this because the first two times (not included in this experiment), I lost my 'like' ability. They gave it back 24 hrs later.
(Yeah, I know, right? People keep taking my damn buttons)
