How often do you start writing something on a message board and stop yourself because you want to use it in a WIP? At least once a week, I type something and say, no, wait, let's not give that one away for free.

If I do stop myself from posting, it's rarely through fear of someone using what I write. It's more that I'm waiting for someone to invent a tongue-in-cheek smiley!

I stop myself from saying something stupid. Or at least try to. Sometimes it doesn't work. Like now.

I never stop myself from doing anything. I spew whatever passing detritus that crosses my mind with utter abandon, damn the consequences. If it causes chaos and wreaks havoc, that's fine by me.
I am an id.

I've taken a posting hiatus from WC for a while, but I almost broke it yesterday. Other than that, I rarely self-censor. I don't have witty bon mots falling off my keyboard like you do, Fred!

I often write a long post and then say: hey, this would make a great post for my blog. And then I go and write it. But never that it would go into a WIP.

Every time you post from now on, I'll ask myself "What was the even better thing that he thought of and then snickered and said, 'Nope! Not for these plebeians. I'm saving that one!'"

I'm amazed there are better things. The ones he does bestow on us are so good. Jeepers creepers.

Oh, stop. You're embarassing me. Anyway, usually it happens on sci-fi forums.

I stop myself from making around 50% of all posts on KBoards. It's pretty terrible. If I feel like someone has given an OP particularly bad advice, I'll sometimes PM them and say "Don't listen to that person!!!" but usually I just shake my head and go back to writing.

If you could bottle that self-restraint, I bet it'd sell even better than your books!

I've written and erased several responses to threads. It's the nature of a message board. Sometimes, just putting the words down helps me see how unhelpful it would be to add to a thread or how useless it would be as my words or meaning wouldn't be heard or would be misconstrued.
I must admit though, vrabinec, that I have replied to your posts several times that you've won the thread with whatever snarky, hilarious response you've posted. Can't tell you how many times I've spit coffee reading your responses!

I stop myself all the time because I ask myself, "Self, do you want what you're about to say to be pulled up by someone in 5 years? No? Walk away!"
