The only time I have ever camped was at Kichwa Tembo tented camp in the Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya. Proper beds, showers, and flushing toilets all inside the tent; excellent cuisine in the restaurant; wonderful game drives to see the wildlife; and, at night, the (alcoholic!) sundowner around the campfire under glorious African skies filled with thousand upon thousand of stars. Ahh. That would be the ONLY camping I'd be interested in!

My wife and I used to love to go camping. When we lived in the city, we had to escape regularly for a "tree fix" up in the nearby mountains. We stayed in cabins too, but camping was always a fun option.
Now that we live in a log house surrounded by trees, I get a tree fix every time I look out the window. If I want to get close and personal with them, I hike the trails I've cut through our 40 acres. We haven't been camping since we moved to Idaho in 1996.

Yeah, camping's not really my thing, either. I'm willing to go along if someone else does all the back-breaking labor, but that's about it.

This is a "standard" Kichwa tent (there are others more luxurious):
