According to this site, iwl.me/ I write like...William Shakespeare! Why not give it a try? It's a fun way to procrastinate.

It depends on the chapter. Sometimes it comes up James Joyce. Sometimes P.G. Wodehouse. Sometimes Harry Harrison. Sometimes Arthur Clarke.

Uh, oh. I got Dan Brown. Well, I'd be happy to have his level of success even if I have to take the same criticisms with it.

I pasted several different scenes and got either Mario Puzo or Steven King. Two writers I really don't like. Yuck.

Neuromancer is a great book. You should read it.
I usually get Stephen King or JK Rowling, but I think genre (especially of that section) has more to do with it than style.

I got Agatha Christie! And I pasted in the first couple of paragraphs of my current WIP... Nice! Christie is a snappy writer. You know, I bet the thing is pretty much random.

I thought so too, but I pasted two different scenes from my book (after closing my browser and going back later) and got Dan Brown both times. Whatever goofy algorithm they are using, it seems to be fairly consistent. I'd need to test it several more times, clearing cookies between each try, to be sure.

Looks like I write like . . . Jack London. I reckon I'll take that.
And it says my nonfiction is like the writing of H.P. Lovecraft. Hmmm . . .

I would have thought so too, except Susan got two different results consistently with multiple scenes (as did mlhearing).

Hm, good point. Well, I'm not going to go again. I don't want to get anyone else! Same here! I went twice just to see if I would get someone else, but in some ways I'm glad I didn't. Now all I have to do is write my Da Vinci Code.
