Believe it or not, the KB thread was showing up high in the results just a couple hours after Jim K. started it. Google sure it speedy. Some folks during the FBS thing pointed out that by defending themselves, FBS kept the thread on the front page for several days, where the dishonest and gullible could see it. Maybe authoroffer *should* send someone by! I'd love it if they did, if only for the popcorn factor. I kinda hate it when KB'ers fight among themselves, but I love to see the community come together and tear a scammer apart. Does that make me a bad person? tee hee. Maaaaybe. But it's the right kind of bad person.

Of course not! I'm following another thread with great interest... Unbelievable spite? Pretty unbelievable... Why is there this tendency to blame every bad thing on spite? It's so weird. Bad things (reviews, up/down votes, C&D letters, whatever) do just happen sometimes. I guess the human brain is highly resistant to accepting coincidence.

If I don't sell a lot of books, I know I'm blaming KB. It's easier on the ego.

It's so dumb on their part. If they were just up front and said we're new, give us a try for free or very cheap, but nope, greed. So they lie about their mailing list size, they generate fake testimonials, probably fake GR posts, and now they're reputation is shot. Had they spent that time building their list and fostering author relationship they would be sitting nice on the long term. But I guess that's the scam mentality- get the most money I can, the fastest way possible, before moving on to the next scam.

I really don't get the sense of their being any plan to build a legitimate list/business. I think it's definitely a scam, and a very good one, unfortunately.
