How about your kids reading them? Is it weird to think of your sons reading sexy scenes you've written, Suzy? ETA: Wow ... what if you write erotica, and your kids read your books ... and get off on them!?!? That's ... oh dear. But it must happen. Criminy. Okay, now you're really grossing me out. And that's not easy. I'm gonna forbid my girls to read my books. Me too. Hopefully they'll react like Suzy's sons, and no forbidding will be required!

My daughter in law reads all my books. Loves them. That doesn't bother me at all. We have a very special relationship.

In my long delayed second book, "She's Gone" I used a countdown but I ended up taking it out in rewrites. The story is about a girl that is kidnapped and the MC goes out to look for her, so I had the countdown like this:
Chapter 1 Gone 3 Days
Chapter 2 Gone 20 Days
Chapter 3 Gone 4 Days
Etc. I thought it was a good way to cue in readers of time jumps/flashbacks, but it ended up too confusing, so I took it out.

Oh, come on. We're all human and we're all sexual beings. My mom is 70 and I think it's cool that she's still getting some. Why not? I hope I can still indulge in a little hanky-panky when I'm 70. I have no kids, but if I did, I'd hope they had healthy attitudes about their bodies and their sexual relationships.
My mom and step-father read my first book together. I'm a fade-to-black writer when it comes to sex scenes, so I had nothing to worry about on that front. Still, if I *had* written a sex scene, I'm sure Mom would have told me what she thought of it, and I'd have been genuinely interested in her opinion.

Your parents reading your books... I've been there. That's worse than the general public reading, trust me. How about your kids reading them? Is it weird to think of your sons reading sexy scenes you've written, Suzy? ETA: Wow ... what if you write erotica, and your kids read your books ... and get off on them!?!? That's ... oh dear. But it must happen. Criminy. Sweet, Jesus. I never thought of that. And God I'm glad that I never thought of it. That's just weird. Damn weird. Congratulations for weirding me out. That just doesn't happen very often.

The whole countdown thing is pretty common in thrillers. The main thing is that the time has be meaningful somehow. You can't really add tension if it's just a clock on the wall.

Intellectually, I'm glad my parents had a good sex life. Every-other-ly, I'd truly rather think about it!

In my serial that is, ahem, underway, I start off each episode with the time. Friday Morning. I guess so they know where they left off. It is kinda like 24.
