Has anyone uploaded yet? Why do you need to upload a PDF?

I guess they offer the PDF to readers, if that's what they want. I uploaded there in November, and I've already had more action there then I've had on the other sites in more than a year -- more than 500 downloads. (Vs. 7400 on Amazon since the book went permafree, but it's still way better than any of the others.) I definitely recommend it. TK's directions are awesome.

I think I'm almost there with a title. Need to convert a PDF tomorrow. Don't have the writer on my home computer.

I think you can save-as in Word, though the result might not be as good.

Was Nolander a paid title when you added it originally? Or has it always been free on Google Play? I'm curious how paid titles do. But I think people on TK's thread have worked out exactly where you have to price it to end up with the right price after discounting. I'd go for it, Daniel -- I think there's a lot less available there than on Amazon, and a heckova lot of people have Android phones. Big and growing market, less competition. |

Can you make the book free directly on Google Play? Do I have that right?

Yeah, I set my to free. No problem.
The only place I got hung up was in the payment area. I didn't scroll down and accidentally left something blank. So the book didn't go live. I wrote to their help email address and got a crystal clear, non-form-letter answer within 24 hours that explained what I'd done wrong. I was really impressed.

Ok, hang with me. Through Calibre, I converted a docx file to epub. I got that "can't sanitize epub" error. On TK's thread, there is mention of Sigil, 2epub.com (which I downloaded from the link and got a bunch of crap programs along with it that took me a hlf hour to get rid of), and a bunch of other things I honestly don't know about. I did send one of the files to the epub validator, and came back with a lot of errors I don't get. Suggestions?

Try posting a question on TK's thread. I bet someone will know. Or, like I said, the Google Play help line is really good.

Or, like I said, the Google Play help line is really good. Thanks! I formatted a DOC file the way I wanted, then sent the DOC (not html thing) to Calibre, then converted to epub. Without having spaces in the UPLOADED file name worked - I ran it through the epub validator and it came back with no errors. I uploaded that to GP. We;ll see. Thanks. |
