They call it Indie Pride Day. Guess it's not the first year, but it was new to me. Anyway, I removed the old poster (with the typos) from this thread. Here is my version:

I'll consider doing it if someone fixes the typo.
(As it stands, it's not a great advertisement for indie proofreading skills.)

I'll consider doing it if someone fixes the typo. (As it stands, it's not a great advertisement for indie proofreading skills.) I don't know who's responsible, but I'll fix it. So let's be clear what you mean. I think it has a naughty comma after "world", so I'd ditch that. RE the apostrophe in "pic's", I think that's OK because it's standing in for missing letters: pic(ture)s. Of course, I could be wrong. Then there's the problem with "us". It sounds like we aren't the Indie Authors who will be doing the raiding; it sounds like we will be posing with our books and then our pictures will be posted by the Indie Authors. Whoever they are. (Memes be crazy bad at grammar and punctuation.) So how about: On July 1st, Indie Authors from around the world will blitz social media with pictures of themselves holding up their books. Join them! Use the hashtag #IndieBooksBeSeen

Hmmm ... <tries to figure out how to make a seagull hold a paperback> Becca, I must retain my mysterious personna, so I will be posing behind my paperback. Wearing sunglasses. In the dark.

If any of you guys want a book cover as part of the backdrop on the new meme, let me know which one. I can't promise that all will fit, but I'll do my best.

OK, here's the preliminary pic. If you want a book cover included, get a good image to me by Monday, June 22nd! They will be overlapping, but I will try to make sure that either the title or author name on each book is visible. I will post the final "poster" here for people to share, if they want.

RE the apostrophe in "pic's", I think that's OK because it's standing in for missing letters: pic(ture)s. Of course, I could be wrong. I didn't read it that way. An apostrophe does not make a noun plural. You see this mistake in the grocery store all the time and it makes my skin crawl. (Apple's $1.99 /lb is wrong.)

But "apple" is a complete word; it wouldn't be made plural with an apostrophe. My point was that "pic's" could be seen as a contraction, where the apostrophe takes the place of missing letters. In that case the apostrophe makes it neither plural nor possessive. I wouldn't use it myself, but some might make a case for it.
More likely the poster did mean it as a plural, and therefore it was a mistake -- because, as you say, it's a very common one.

Lindy, could explain exactly what this is all about? Do we post a picture of ourselves and our books on twitter, using the hashtag? Or is it something you are doing?
Sorry the sea fog here is seeping into my brain...

Suzy, on July 1st, you share on social media a picture of yourself holding up one or more of your books, and use the hashtag above. That's it!
But if you want one of your book covers on the poster that I am making and sharing to promote the event, send it to me!

Okay, I will, thank you! I'll send you the one that will just be out by then.

And I'll send you one of Strictly, in case you have room for one more. Thanks for doing this, Lindy - it's a real pain taking a photo on my old camera and uploading it.

Lynda - you will be sending me just the book cover, so I can include it on the poster. If you participate in the social media event, you will be posting a pic of yourself holding up one or more of your books, and including the hashtag #IndieBooksBeSeen. But you could "photoshop" that -- take the pic you have of yourself here, for example, and superimpose a book cover or two (or three!) in front...

Hmm, I could - if I had Photoshop. Or any image editing software other than MS Paint. And I knew anything about image editing. I'm a sad case.
