I have just set up a blog called Beautiful Indie Book Covers, which is intended to highlight beautiful and effective covers made by self-published authors for their own books. In each case I will try and pinpoint why I think the cover works so well. Hopefully it will also provide inspiration to those who want to make their own eBook covers. Help me by letting me know of any great self-made covers on Indie books. Please post a link to the book on Amazon. If you have made your own book cover and are proud of it, feel free to submit that. Thanks. Beautiful Indie Book Covers: daphnecoleridge.weebly.com/beautiful-indie-book-covers

I never cease to be impressed by how versatile self-published authors can be.

Susan Daffron does most of my covers, as she mentioned. Victorine Leiske (also a self-pubbed author) did First Moon for me. She was kind enough to give us the Photoshop files so I could have Susan do a mild makeover and assemble the print cover. I've done exactly one cover for myself. Finite Fantasy is only available as a free download on my web site, so I can't give you an Amazon link. (I wouldn't expect you to put it on your site in any case.) But I like it, and since everyone else is sharing, here's mine: Attachments:

I don't know if mine count. I give my real name and my daughter's boyfriend credit in the books for his idea...he was going to design the first cover from an image I picked out...he added a starburst to the tree which I changed later to the solar flare. The rest of the series was all me.
ETA: I love that cover Daniel.

This is a lovely idea, Daphne, thank you for asking us to participate. I don't know if they qualify as "beautiful", but I've done two of my own: the troll anthology and Hyperlink from Hell, both links in my signature. But I redid the cover for Hyperlink slightly (to adjust coloring) since putting it here, so you could grab it from Amazon after clicking the link, if you'd like to use that. I think the troll cover is much better, though, plus all profits go to charity and it could definitely use the exposure. I illustrated that book and wrote the title story, so of course I am most proud of it. Mark Capell, who has a story in the troll book, did all the covers for a series of short stories by different authors, set in the peculiar streets of "Fogland". The covers are all the same with a different color spot and title, etc., but I think they are very simple and beautifully effective. Plus he provided them to the authors for free, so we could publish the ebooks of our stories and take any profits we could. (He made free podcasts of the stories he selected from all the submissions, and it is thrilling to hear him reading a story I wrote. They are still available at iTunes, I think, but sadly, the Fogland website is down now.) He also does all his other covers, and I think they are pretty interesting. Mark Capell's author page at Amazon is here. I am especially fond of "Cafe Insomniac". Beautifully written book, too.

Thank you for your responses. I have picked up your covers for my blog although I haven't posted them all yet. But I am already building up a fine gallery of work, which shows that self-published authors have innate artistic talent.

I think that Courtney Milan does her own covers, too. If you can't tell, I looked at hers when I was designing my Regency romance cover.
Ooh! I just clicked over to your blog. Thank you for your compliments!

I'm honored that you included Finite Fantasy on your blog, @daphne. Thanks also for the kind words. I hope you didn't spot the typo in my summary of your cover - now corrected. I blame my pathetic internet, as I corrected the typo straight away but it failed to upload, so I did it again this morning. My internet download speed is 0.3 Mbps on a good day and often fades out altogether.

It maxes out at about 1.5 Mbps and my bandwidth is limited to 5GB/mo before Verizon starts charging extra. Rural living has its down sides.

I live in a small hamlet, down a lane, down a track and along a path. But, on the plus side, with an election looming, I never get canvassers.
