I've signed up too - Trafalgar if anyone wants a buddy or a cabin mate.

Excellent! I'd invite you, but it's Laura's cabin.

The one person in the cabin that you all won't know is my friend Victoria. She has published a non-fiction book, a collection of ghost stories from people she knows. She is also working on a cozy mystery. I know her from real life, she and I were in a writing group together a few years ago. She is a very sweet person who loves cats, books and vintage clothes and is originally from Canada (New Brunswick area--St. John if I remember correctly).

Hmm. That sounds fun. Mine is Urban Fantasy but they don't have that option. Should I choose Fantasy? The only other thing I see is Supernatural/horror but mine is not remotely horror...

Nm. I figured it out. Now to find Urban Fantasy or similar genre authors to cabin with. Hmm. I didn't consider joining a cabin with like-genre authors. Do you think that would make a difference? I joined Laura's cabin because I thought it would be fun to bunk with authors I know on the Pub. I figure a word count goal is a word count goal, no matter what kind of words you are writing. * * *
I just noticed that the cabin has aggregate goals and a progress bar. That's a pretty sneaky incentive. Who wants to be the camper who lets down the whole cabin?

Daniel, I've done both. Bunked with authors who wrote in similar genre and bunked with people I know. In the first instance, my cabin was about 50/50 romance writers to paranormal writers and it was fun. The next time was with friends from my old writer's group and it was just as much fun so I am going to climb up on the fence with this one.
That'll be me in the cabin, the one with picket marks on my butt.

All my stuff is moved in already, so I wasn't planning on leaving.

Plus, you can do it all again in July and try the other method of cabin selection.
Cabin goals are fun. My first cabin surpassed its goals but everyone in there except me was a repeat camper. The cabin I started last year with just my friends...we missed by a bit though I did my part and that time I was the only repeat camper. I smell a trend.

I've never had any luck with random cabin assignments on any criteria. Somehow, I always seem to end up with a very quiet cabin where no one lasts past the first week!

Any bunks left in the cabin? I may be just about ready to dive into a rewrite/rough draft in April, so for once the timing is right for me.
Sorry I've been missing from these boards lately -- I've been banging my head against a heavier-than-I-thought-it-would-be revision for the last couple of weeks, desperately trying to get it off to my copy-editor in time.
I'm on as Amelias and have set up my novel, Defenders.
... and apparently I was going to write this novel during last summer's NaNo, too. I've been stuck in endless revisions since then.
