I only got an email because I emailed them first and said that since there was no concrete date for this, I'd put the book permafree and if they still wanted it, they would have to give me enough notice to get it back to paid. Otherwise, I think it would have been complete radio silence.
It may be a lack of experience more than a lack of ability. Last week someone posted over in Romance Divas that everyone in KU should do some kind of cross promo and they already have a box set in the works from the looks of it. There's 2 groups set up on Facebook to coordinate adding blurbs in the back of each others KU books and I can't participate since I just went wide and none of them are in my genre. But, the point is that with a bit of motivation and experience, these things can come together quickly.

Weird ... I typed a reply to this, but I guess I neglected to post it. Yeah, the fantasy bundle seems to have been more work than the BookSends folks realized it would be. They did run into trouble with the overall file size and had to drop someone, which wasn't great, and I'm sure the mechanics of formatting a 4000-page book written by a dozen different authors using a variety of programs and, probably, having varied levels of competence at preparing manuscripts ... well, I sure wouldn't want to do that. Maybe the prospect of doing it again is just too daunting.

Well, I see that at least one author is benefiting from being in Magic Touch: Or maybe it's just that Shawn has been the most successful at promoting the anthology to his audience. Either way, good for Shawn! Attachments:

That is awesome, Shawn! We might be seeing the fruits of Shawn's Facebook genius right there.

Those divas at RD have done a few and I'd assume experience makes it much easier.

Maybe once the experience recedes into the distance a bit, the BookSends folks will feel more up for trying it again. A romance collection would be (I think) a great seller.

I'd still want in on it if they can get it together. I hope they can. It would be an excellent bit of PR even if it never made a cent.

Heh. With 1.1 cents per author per sale, or whatever, I don't think money-making is going to be an issue!

I'm hoping to be in one of the romance divas bundles, so will let you all know how it goes. I'm looking forward to the experience.

Shawn did a Bookbub ad ten days ago. Must be the tail he's having. Hey, Shawn, we can see your tail!
