Good for you, Laura. Good luck! We might end up in the same bundle and then we can cross promo.

ETA: I went ahead and submitted it with a note about when it will be out of select so I won't be waiting until it goes wide to have the question of whether it would be accepted answered. Laura - I did the same thing. I had to submit Book 2 in my Vet series as I'm planning to permafree Book 1 - and that won't come out of Select till Jan 22nd - but I just put that in the comments. I emailed BookSends first to check and they said that was fine. And yeah, Daniel Daniel - the potential "cannabalisation" was the only thing that I was slightly worried about - or, as you put it, it's like I'm offering Book 2 for "free" as well as Book 1 on permafree... but I think for someone like me who is still so unknown and has such a small pool of fans, it'll actually work in my favour rather than against it - coz I'm more likely to benefit from cross-over from readers/fans of other authors in my bundle (plus the general people picking it up) - letting new people know I exist. I think the bundle audience will be different enough from my current audience that I may still increase readership. I mean, it's not much different to doing free promos - you're also mostly aiming at bargain hunters but hoping that within that group, there is a small % who might like your book enough to buy the others... so I imagine this might be similar. Of course, you're fighting with other books in the bundle for visibility/remembrance - rather than all the other freebies on the person's Kindle, as you would with your permafree - so I guess there is an additional level here. Plus you don't have your own cover to grab the reader/remind them of your book - you have to rely on the bundle cover - over which you have no say. Oh well, I guess - as you say - we won't know until we try it. I'm glad there is a 2-month opt out/termination clause. I can always pull my Book 2 out if it seems to be doing nothing.

I would be more interested in this if I weren't planning to try permafree. I don't know what the conversion from an anthology to books might be. I downloaded a "Must Love Pets" anthology with a bunch of pet-oriented stories that's doing really well. But I disliked all the books.

I submitted my one fantasy book for that bundle. Jason accepted it, but said they still need a few books to complete the bundle, so I posted in the Kboards thread to bump it to the top.

Thank you, Shawn. That's a real help. Plus it made it all look very positive.

I haven't heard back so probably did not get accepted but I still think this is a good opportunity.

I just hated to see a good idea lie fallow like that. Kboards can make (something really good) into a fart in church.

Update: I got an email from Jason today saying they would like to have my book but that they need more authors. So, this may never get off the ground. Who knows.

I bet you will get one! My problem right now is that the book I submitted is going out of Select at the end of the month. I planned to put it permafree and I don't mind delaying that option to take advantage of this one but if they are not going to have enough authors to participate, I don't want to dilly dally around waiting either.
I can give it 3 months while I finish the last book in the series but I won't keep it available beyond that.

Contacted Jason today to let him know I put the book permafree and would change it back if need be and he said the one bundle they'd managed to get up had been challenging. The romance one might not happen since they didn't get enough submissions.

Thanks for letting us know, Laura. That gets me off the hook, as the one he had accepted was Hot Property that I now have on a permafree run.

Yep, mine went permafree this morning and I figured it was a good excuse to find out the status of the bundle. It stinks, though because the other one they did manage to get done is ranking well. I hope they can get enough authors on board to make this work.

I can't understand why they couldn't put a romance bundle together?

I don't know, it makes no sense to me either. I dropped the link in my sweet/clean group and it sank without a trace. Here's the text of the response I got:
Not a lot of explanation but I'm wondering if the 50/50 split had something to do with it.

Sounds like the 'it has been more challenging than we thought'means it was nearly impossible and they won't try to do another one. I got no e-mail, which is a little inconsiderate as I tried my best to get other romance authors to submit, including a thread on KB.
